About Prudence

Prudence is a couture milliner based in London.
Prudence Millinery opened in 1990. Vivienne Westwood helped to launch her career when in 1990 Vivienne asked Prudence to make hats for "Dressing Up", Westwood's Autumn Winter Collection for 1991. Prudence has made hats for her ever since, for Gold Label, Red Label, MAN, Anglomania and now Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood.
In 1996 Prudence won the Best Accessories Award for the MAN hats from the Fashion Council of America.
Prudence sold her first collection made under her own label Prudence Millinery to Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel both in New York. A hat from her first collection was photographed by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia worn by Linda Evangelista.
Since then, Prudence has designed hat collections for many designers and clients including Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Stefano Pilati, Gucci, Julien MacDonald, Charles Anastase, Lacoste, Les Hommes, Isa Arfen and Mother of Pearl.
Prudence has had hats featured in Vogue Italia, L’ Uomo Vogue, British Vogue, Tatler, Vanity Fair, Elle, W and Harpers & Queen and may other publications.
Her hats have featured in ads for Lavazza Coffee, Juicy Couture and Adrienne Vittadini. Hats designed for Vivienne Westwood have also featured in Sex and the City - The Movie.
Prudence collections sell throughout Japan at select shops and in London through Vivienne Westwood.
